Looking in the mirror
I don't recognize
The person that I'm seeing
With my dull and tiered eyes.
I'm looking for the person
They all say they see.
But all I'm seeing now is someone so unkind to me.
I see her broken and beaten back, submissive to the crowd.
I see her crumbling each day that I watch.
I see her starting to break and I see the pain on her face
And yet I still can't see an end in sight.
I see them laugh and turn their head and smile because they don't care.
And I still can't see a way that I'll survive.
Because at this point I'm living
But I don't really feel alive.
Stars come out to shine
And the moon blinks it's bright white eye.
You can hear the crickets play the violin
And you can hear the owls sing in tune.
It's a brand new world
But it's not yours.
So go to sleep.
Don't make a peep.
It's time to say
Goodbye to reality.

Make the world whatever you like,
Keep the darkness away
